God's Gear
a children's sermon seed based on
Ephesians 6:10-20
from Dave in MD
Substitute the Armor (and war) image with that of the baseball gear:
Perhaps you could ask several children to bring along their gear and
make the following associations (all this offers protection from pitched
and foul balls, a swinging bat, and sliding runners):
Belt of truth (wearing the name of Jesus ) = baseball uniform belt
Breastplate of Righteousness (matters of the heart: confess your sins
and do good)= chest protector
Shoes (spread the good news)= baseball shoes
Shield of faith (believe in God, seek His face)- face mask/throat
protector
Helmet of salvation (know you're a child of God)= protective helmet
Sword = catcher's mit (save balls - save souls)
What do Christians and Fire-Fighters have in common?
a children's sermon seed based on
Ephesians 6:10-20
from Seagoin' Pete
Fire-fighter image. Perhaps you could ask a fire-fighter from the
community to come in full gear for demonstration. Associations to the
biblical armor image:
The 'bunker gear' serves as armor (belt?).
The helmet still saves the firefighter.
Rubber boots give traction and protect the feet.
The coat shields from water as well as burning embers (the breast
plate?).
The oxygen mask keep her or him from breathing the poisonous fumes
where the flames are raging (shield of faith).
The firefighter's tools are the axe and spar, to break down barriers
and saving people who are trapped by fire or smoke (sword).
